Watches from the Open Space Heritage collection are an ideal solution for all those who don’t want to choose between style and convenience. They are equipped with the legendary Soviet Vostok 2431 movement. The large face has a 24-hour dial and a window displaying the date. The back cover is decorated with an engraved image of an astronaut on a spacewalk. This watch features noble and expressive shades of brown. The white stitching on the leather strap echoes the numbers on the dial. The stainless steel case has a bronze-coloured finish, made using the PVD high vacuum coating technique. The dial is covered with a durable mineral crystal, which is highly resistant to scratches and abrasions. The indices and hands are luminous.
ABOUT STURMANSKIE
The Russians were the first to explore space on 12 April 1961 when cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, orbited the Earth in his Vostok-1 for one hour and forty-eight minutes. On his wrist, he wore a Sturmanskie watch, the first special timepiece in the world designed and manufactured to go in to space.
Withstanding the severe conditions of zero gravity, strong accelerations, unpredictable vibrations, and varying temperatures, Sturmanskie was the first brand to make astronomical feats in the watch world.
Its innovation was owed to the nautical and aviation chronometers originally developed for the Military Air Forces and Navy by the First Moscow Watch Factory.
The brand Sturmanskie was first launched in 1949. Back then, it was exclusively available for the Armed Forces and Navy of the USSR. It was only in 1983 that Sturmanskie watches were made available to the general public.
